Receipt Hog Review

Receipts can be useful for budgeting, confirming if you’ve been overcharged or in case you need to return a faulty item.

You can also use them to earn some money.

What is Receipt Hog?

Receipt hog is an app that’s available on both iPhone and Android phones. It collects your purchase information for summary in market research and analysis, in return for rewards. The data includes your spending habits, items you buy and your favorite store. Big brands pay for such intel.

How it Works

Once you download the app, take pictures of shopping receipts with your camera phone. Make sure the receipts’ image is clear and shows all the necessary information before you submit. After the receipt is verified you’ll be awarded coins or spin rewards based on the total of your shopping.

Coin Rewards

Coin rewards are redeemable for PayPal cash or Amazon gift cards. You can earn coins with receipts from places such as:

  • Supermarkets
  • Convenience stores
  • Off licenses
  • Chemists
  • Pet shops
  • Toy shops
  • Discount shops

You’re allowed only three receipts from the same store with the same date.

Hog Slots

Alternatively, you can earn spins instead of coins. They can be used in the receipt app’s Hog Slots area which is an online slot machine – where you match symbols to win extra coins. You earn a spin on the hog slots whenever you buy clothes, electronics, office supplies, stationery, and household items. Each receipt earns you an entry into a monthly sweepstake for up to 5,000 coins. You can also earn entries with receipts for fuel, restaurants and liquor stores.

You will earn extra spins on the hog slots if you achieve the weekly or monthly challenges. This is done by weekly scanning or referring a friend. For every referral who signs ups with your code, you will get ten spins while they’ll get five.

Invalid Receipts

Some receipts are worthless and will earn you nothing. They include ticket stubs, service invoices, credit card slips, hand-written receipts or receipts older than 14 days.

Levels

To reach the top of the Receipt Hog pyramid you must submit receipts weekly. There are 25 possible levels to achieve. Each advancement level has bonus spins or coins.

Weekly Limits

You earn points each week for the value of each receipt. For example, a $10 receipt will earn 10 coins, until you reach the 100 coin maximum for the week. Once you reach the 100 coins limit, you’ll earn 5 coins for every receipt you upload – no matter the amount spent.

Earning Ratio

The earning ratio will depend on the amount spent. The more you spend the higher the reward. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Less than $10 = 5 coins
  • Between $10 and $50 = 10 coins
  • Between $50 and $100 = 15 coins
  • More than $100 = 20 coins

You can also earn extra coins by scanning or typing the bar codes on selected products.

Redeeming Coins

You can redeem your coins once you achieve the following threshold:

  • 1,000 coins = $3 (Amazon)
  • 1,500 coins = $5 ( PayPal)
  • 2,850 coins = $10
  • 5,300 coins = $ 20
  • 12,000 coins = $ 50

Rewards are normally delivered via email within seven days after you cash out on the app. To download the Receipt Hog app or read further information about it visit their website here.
